Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that choosing a custom luxury spa is a significant decision, and you may have questions about the process, materials, and maintenance involved. Our FAQ page is here to provide answers to the most commonly asked questions, helping you gain a deeper understanding of our stainless and copper hot tubs.

What type of clients hire you?

We work with a wide variety of clients, from homeowners looking for functional yet beautiful designs to high-profile clients desiring elaborate, one-of-a-kind spas. Our goal is to deliver exceptional quality to every client, whether it’s a simple home spa or a custom creation for a luxury property. We’re passionate about bringing each client’s unique vision to life.

Does “custom” just mean more expensive?

Custom doesn’t necessarily mean a higher price tag. While custom metal spas offer unique benefits, such as tailored sizing, material selection, and design flexibility, we strive to accommodate a wide range of budgets. Many of our projects balance beautiful design with practicality, ensuring that you receive a product that fits both your aesthetic and financial goals.

How is DaVinci Spas different from other custom spa builders?

DaVinci Spas stands out for our meticulous attention to quality and durability. We prioritize strength and rigidity in every spa, ensuring long-lasting performance. Our alternative insulation processes simplify maintenance, allowing for easier repairs compared to traditional insulation. Each DaVinci spa includes PureComfort, a cutting-edge Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) for chemical-free water disinfection at no extra cost. Additionally, we consider our spas as artistic creations, emphasizing quality in every detail to deliver a beautiful, enduring product.

How are DaVinci spas structurally tested?

Every DaVinci spa undergoes rigorous structural testing to ensure safety, durability, and optimal performance. We use advanced engineering software to perform stress analyses and simulate real-world conditions on each design before fabrication begins. This process allows us to identify any potential structural weaknesses and address them proactively. After fabrication, we conduct further testing to confirm that each spa meets our strict standards for strength and stability, ensuring a spa that will stand up to years of use in both residential and commercial settings.
IMPORTANT

Can chlorine be used to sanitize my DaVinci spa?

No, chlorine cannot be used in any DaVinci Spa due to its corrosive effects on the metals we use, including 316L stainless steel and copper. Instead, hydrogen peroxide is a recommended alternative that provides a gentler and healthier method for maintaining a clean spa environment.

For more details on the impact of chlorine on stainless steel, please consider reading the article "Stainless steel in swimming pool buildings" from the Nickel Institute.

What maintenance is required for my spa?

Regular maintenance includes cleaning the spa surfaces, checking and adjusting water chemistry, and monitoring filtration systems. For those using hydrogen peroxide, water testing is recommended more frequently to ensure an optimal environment. Our optional AutoFill system can further simplify water management by maintaining consistent water levels.

Can DaVinci spas be customized to include unique features or branding?

Absolutely. Each DaVinci spa is designed to your specifications, so you can incorporate distinct features such as custom logos, specific finishes, or distinctive shapes to suit residential aesthetics or commercial branding. Our team works closely with you to integrate these elements while maintaining the spa’s functionality and durability.

How long does it take to design and build a spa?

The timeline for designing and building a DaVinci spa will vary greatly based on the level of customization and complexity. Typically, the process from design to final fabrication can take between 8 to 12 weeks. Our team will provide a more accurate timeline based on your specific project requirements.
IMPORTANT

Who installs my spa?

A licensed electrician, plumber, and any other required trades must install your DaVinci spa. We recommend consulting with your contractor before starting your project to ensure compliance with local codes and to coordinate the installation for a smooth and timely setup.

What kind of warranty is provided?

We stand behind the quality of our spas and offer a 25-year warranty on materials and build. This covers structural integrity, surface finishes, and essential components to give you peace of mind. For specific details, please contact us, as warranty terms will vary based on customization and individual product specifications.

How much water is used?

A typical 6-foot square spa holds around 650 gallons of water. To maintain water levels, you’ll need to replenish as it evaporates. Using a cover when the spa isn’t in use helps prevent evaporation and keeps debris out. For added convenience, we offer an optional AutoFill system, which uses a sensor to monitor water levels and adds water as needed. This system requires a 1” water line connection, which your plumber can install.

What are the average electrical requirements?

Electrical needs vary based on spa size and frequency of use. For most small to mid-sized spas with a 5.5kW electric heater, a 50-amp, 240V GFCI circuit is sufficient. Larger spas, or those used only occasionally, may require an 11kW heater with an 30-amp circuit. It’s essential to ground or bond all electrical components to the spa shell to ensure safe operation.

What will heat my spa?

Most clients choose electric heating, which we can fully integrate into your DaVinci spa. Gas and oil heaters are also options, although these typically require separate installation by your plumber. With a gas or oil heater, a line feeds hot water into the spa on demand, and the spa’s controller manages the circulation as needed. Both methods deliver a reliable, comfortable spa temperature to suit your needs.

Where does all the equipment go that runs my spa?

To keep the aesthetic clean, most of the electronic and plumbing equipment is hidden beneath the spa’s seating area. Alternatively, we offer the option of ‘remote’ equipment, mounted to a stainless-steel skid that can be placed up to 30 feet from the spa. This setup requires additional work from your contractor, such as trenching for plumbing and electrical lines, but it provides easier maintenance access and reduces noise and vibration under the spa. This option is ideal for clients who prioritize a quieter, service-friendly setup
